I’m going to use library shows as a case study.

If you’ve never performed for library summer reading programs, you’re in for a treat.

Libraries are fun and the librarians are very receptive.

If you don’t want to perform for libraries or your country or region doesn’t have library summer reading programs, you can adapt this case study for whatever type performance you’d like.

In the United States most public libraries have a summer reading program where the library brings in performers to promote reading and promote the library.

The libraries usually have money budgeted for these shows and the librarians are actively looking for performers.

Libraries are great because they need performers every week usually starting in June and going through July or sometimes very early August.

Figure out how far you’re willing to travel then look at all of the communities in that circle.

Don’t overlook the smaller towns and communities because they need performers and are often neglected by your competition.

Call the main telephone number of the library and tell them you’re a children’s performer wanting to talk about their summer reading program and ask to speak to the children’s librarian.

The libraries are expecting these kinds of calls and will be grateful that you’re contacting them because they’re scrambling around to fill each slot.

Follow the plan for contacting them that we talked about yesterday.

You should be able to book five extra gigs in just an hour or two.

Once you get started you may end up booking a lot more for the summer.

Follow this process an you’ll have lots of gigs.
