What to Charge for Your Family Show Performance
What to Charge for Your Family Show Performance
I want to show you how you can make more money and serve your market better by charging a fair price for your family show performance.
If you’re a magician, face painter, clown, ventriloquist, balloon twister, or any other type of family show professional you’ll learn how to figure out the amount to charge so that you’re maximizing your income and at the same time serving your market in a way that is fair and consistent.
In this video I’m going to show you the exact steps to take to figure out how much you should be charging.
If you’re like the vast majority of performers, you’re charging WAY too little.
You can instantly increase your income and I’ll show you that by charging a fair rate you’re going to serve your market better than you’re currently serving them by undercharging.
I work with thousands of performers and have helped hundreds of them figure out the best rates to charge.
Recently I was on a Zoom call with a group of performers and one of my students stopped in to say she could not stay for the whole call because she was leaving on a cruise to the Bahamas with her husband using the extra income she had made from performing.
Amid her packing and preparations she simply wanted to pop into the Zoom call to tell the group that this stuff really works.
So let’s get into this.
Family Show Pro has students and friends literally all over the world.
We have paid members from every continent (except Antarctica).
Not only are the markets different, the currencies are not even the same.
So it’s impossible for me to give you a number amount to charge for your service.
Instead, let’s figure out the principles that’ll help you charge exactly the right amount no matter where you live or what market you serve.
95% of the people I work with are not charging enough for their services.
They’re not charging the fair market rate and most of them are charging less than other performers in their area.
When I talk to people about raising their fees the response that I get most often is, “If I raise my fees I won’t get as many gigs.”
Let’s talk about that.
What happens when you raise your fees?
Just to make the math simple, let’s say you double your current rate.
Would you lose half your gigs?
Probably not, but let’s say you did.
If you’re getting twice as much money and doing half the gigs the net result is you’re making the same amount of money and only doing half the work.
Now, I realize this is an extreme example but I use this to keep the math simple and make a point.
If you raise your rates, 10%, 20%, or even 50% you might lose a few gigs along the way.
But, your income will go up substantially.
So, how do you determine the amount you need to charge?
There are lots of factors including:
- what others are charging,
- what your market’s expectations are,
- and what other entertainment options cost.
I have a worksheet for you to download that’ll help you figure out exactly what to charge in your market.

When the performers in your market charge fair consistent rates, people figure out that it’s fun and valuable to have performers at their events.
Sometimes performers tell me they perform just for fun or to serve their community.
Some perform for churches, community organizations, or other good causes.
If that describes you, I’d encourage you to still charge the fair market rate because that’ll enable you to get more training,
You can have buy more props, balloons, or face painting supplies.
You can serve your community even better if you have the financial resources to do more.
I’ve developed a whole course that’ll help you figure out exactly what to charge for your family show performances.
If you haven’t really thought about your rates you need to think about what you’re charging because you can make more income, serve your community more, and be fair to yourself and your market.
This is something you need to think about.
I want you to make more money and serve your community better.
That’s why I make sure everyone can afford this.
This course will tell you how to figure out exactly how much to charge to maximize your income and enjoy earning it.
Your market will love you and you’ll be able to serve them even better.
If you’re new to family show performing, we’re gonna help you figure out what to charge.
And if you’ve been performing a while, this course will help you see if your fees are exactly where they need to be.
We’re going to show you how to make sure that your prices are high enough to make the most income you can without losing gigs.
So, the people who will benefit most from this course are:
- new performers,
- those unsure if their prices are right,
- performers who are thinking about changing their prices,
- and those who MAY feel comfortable with their prices but haven’t really thought about their prices in a while.
If you’re 100% confident in your prices and you’re getting the bookings you want then you might wanna focus on other areas of your family show performing career.
Each of the lessons in this course are small bite-sized videos that are about one to two minutes long.
In a couple of days I’ll share a video where we’ll look at exactly how one performer doubled her income while doing less work.
Be looking for that.
